Secrets of a Shepherdess – Saturday 21st May, 10.30am

Come along and share the secrets of a Shepherdess with Alison O’Neill, enjoy an informative talk and leisurely walk. Shacklabank is a small traditional farm that sits upon a hill overlooking the magnificent Howgill Fells and the beautiful town of Sedbergh in the heart of a much wilder and less populated Cumbria. The farm has a registered flock of native breed rough fell sheep, a mixture of Maran, Light Sussex and bantam hens, a gang of Indian runner ducks and Fell Ponies. Shacklabank is in Defra’s “Countryside Stewardship Scheme”, a contracted agreement with Defra, which enhances and protects the landscape, wildlife, and any history/archaeology on the farm. Alison has created two farm diversifications bringing walkers to her home from all over the world, and now sells Harris Tweed suits from the Barn door. Sorry no dogs. Bring waterproofs, walking boots or Wellingtons.
