Members of the Kirkby Lonsdale Art Society have been working hard all year to create some fantastic paintings. The society holds meetings each week in the winter, whilst the summer is spent perfecting the work ready for the summer exhibition. The members are now applying the finishing touches, presenting the pictures in frames and waiting to see if they have been accepted for inclusion in this year’s exhibition.
President of the society William H Jones, said, “I’m really looking forward to seeing the fantastic range of paintings that our members produce. The standard of work just gets better every year and this year is set to be no exception.” Besides Williams work, the exhibition will include landscapes by Louis Morton, still life oil paintings from Paul Johnson, and vibrant mixed media work by Rosie Jackson amongst many others.
For the first time the exhibition will have a guest artist and that honour is Royal Academy exhibitor Frances Winder. Residing in Kendal Frances finds her inspiration from wilderness areas, gardening and walking. Frances said “Colour and light are important to me and provide the stimulus for many of my recent paintings. I am also drawn increasingly to more abstract expression of the landscapes and forms which have always attracted me.”
Kirkby Lonsdale Art Society opens the doors of its annual exhibition at The Royal Barn Saleroom on Saturday, July the 21st at 1.00pm. The exhibition will run until Saturday the 28th of July, and will be open from 1.00pm until 5pm every day.
This year, professional artist William H Jones of Finestra Gallery has donated a beautiful painting of a sunset in Venice, to be raffled at the exhibition, so one lucky visitor to the show could also be the winner of this fabulous original painting.
