
This year’s Kirkby Lonsdale Arts Festival takes place from Sunday 17th June to Saturday 23rd June in various venues around the town.
All week there are Art Exhibitions in Plato’s, Avanti, Kirkby Lonsdale Library, St Mary’s Church and Queen Elizabeth School. There will be a short exhibition of work by pupils from Underley Hall and Underley Garden Schools in St Mary’s Church and Kirkby Lonsdale Institute.
Sunday 17th June - The annual Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band Competition. The Competition takes place in the market square all day with many Brass Bands from the North West taking part.
On Sunday evening there will be a Rock Communion in St Mary’s Church at 6.30pm. Another evening service with a difference.
Tuesday 19th June – Annual Dance Showcase at Queen Elizabeth School. Performances by all the dance groups from Year 7 – 13. Starts at 7.00pm
Wednesday 20th June - Encore Opera will be performing in St Mary’s Church at 7.30pm. Let the music of Mozart, Verdi, Bizet and Puccini take you into a world of romance, intrigue and passion. Encore Opera have won a fine reputation for operatic performances in the North West of England.
Tickets £7 Adults & £5 for concessions including refreshments.
Wednesday 20th June – Romeo & Juliet. A short piece of Physical Theatre by QES Students. 7.00pm – 8.00pm in The Harlequin Theatre, Queen Elizabeth School.
Thursday 21st June we have a lunchtime recital in St Mary’s Church at 1.30pm with students from Queen Elizabeth School. This event is a free and open to anyone.
Thursday 21st June – The Story sack, free event for under 5’s and their carer’s in Kirkby Lonsdale Library. 1.30pm – 3.00pm
Thursday 21st June 11.00am – 2.30pm Exhibition of work by Pupils from Underley Garden School at Kirkby Lonsdale Institute. Also sale of Eco-work.

Friday 22nd June – Woolfest Trip with our Knit and Natter Group. Coach trip from Kirkby Lonsdale.
Friday 22nd June - Queen Elizabeth School will be hosting Gobble De Gook with Christophe L’heureux. An amazing evening of sounds from this 7 piece band – mixing Cuban, French, Latin & Indian Music to create a unique evening. Tickets £6 Adults & £5 for concessions.
Saturday 23rd June there are a number of events taking place. The annual Paul Pfeuti Piano Competition takes place at 10am in the Recital Room, Queen Elizabeth School. This popular competition is held every year for pupils of primary & secondary schools.
In St Mary’s Church there will also be a variety of craft demonstrations, exhibitions and workshops taking place throughout the day. We have alpacas, jewellers, feltmaking, wool spinning, paper making, art to wear, lace making & quilting all taking place throughout the day – come along and have a go…
Our Knit and Natter group will be yarnstorming, extreme knitting and covering the church in knitted graffiti!
The Story Tent – a return of the popular event for children – come along and have a go at arts and crafts and hear all the magical stories – Free for everyone.
