Kirkby Lonsdale Choral Society

Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’

and Carols from the Oxford Book of Carols

St Mary’s Church, Kirkby Lonsdale

Sunday 12th December 7.30pm

Tickets: Admission at the door £8.00, accompanied children free.

One of Vivaldi’s most stunning masterpieces, the Gloria is a work of rich contrasts and mood opposites - joyful/dark, playful/majestic, personal/universal. These theatrical qualities contribute largely to its immediate and universal appeal.

The Oxford Book is possibly the most famous and complete of all carol collections, greatly respected for being edited by Ralph Vaughan Williams and friends.

Director Ian Allan
Soloists Tracy Penwarden – soprano; Wendy Sharrock – mezzo soprano

Seasonal warmth guaranteed with wine and mince pies to follow!

THE FUTURE DIRECTION FOR KIRKBY LONSDALE AND THE LUNE VALLEY

27th September 2010 @ 7.30pm

Kirkby Lonsdale Institute

With changes in Government policy to reduce local Government spending on community services and assistance to business, it is important that our community looks for ways to become more self sufficent to ensure our quality of life and economic prosperity continues to grow rather than decline.

We would like to hear your views on living and working in Kirkby Lonsdale and the surrounding area on topics such as;

  • What kind of services would you like to see in the town?
  • Do you think affordable housing is needed in the area?
  • Are businesses being given enough support to grow?
  • How can we support small businesses set up?
  • What can we do to protect our natural environment?
  • How can we work together to help our young people succeed?
  • Tourism is important to the town and Lune Valley, how can we encourage more people to the area?

Your views are important, please join us on the 27th of September at 7.30pm
and be part of shaping our future.
