Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair 2025: A Festive Weekend to Remember
The Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair 2025 took place from 5 – 7 December, and what a festive weekend it was. With independent shops, welcoming cafés, bars, bistros and pubs, and a packed programme of Christmas markets and entertainment, the town was filled with seasonal cheer throughout the weekend.
From Christmas parades and live music to festive food, family activities, and beautifully decorated streets, the Christmas Fair Weekend is a magical time to visit Kirkby Lonsdale. Join us as we look back at some of the highlights of the 2025 event, and start getting excited for the Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair 2026.
Festive Fun Across the Weekend
The festivities began on Friday evening with a colourful Christmas parade through the town centre, led by Drum Nation and featuring beautiful lanterns – plus a special appearance from Father Christmas.
In Market Square, the much-loved lights switch-on saw the town’s Christmas tree illuminated, set against the backdrop of the Christmas Chalet Village and Ferris wheel.
The Christmas Chalet Village remained open throughout the weekend, offering shoppers the chance to browse locally made gifts alongside delicious food and drink. Indoor and outdoor Christmas markets at St Mary’s Church and Lunesdale Hall added to the festive atmosphere, while Kirkby Lonsdale’s fantastic independent shops were busy with Christmas shoppers picking up great gifts.
Music, Food and Festive Atmosphere
Live music provided the soundtrack to the Christmas Fair, with pop-up performances across town as part of Santa’s Fringe, alongside performances in Market Square on The Monumental Stage. From festive favourites to carol singing, music filled the air across the weekend.
The scent of festive food and drink was never far away. Cosy pubs, inns, cafés, bars, and restaurants served seasonal treats including mulled wine, mince pies, and hearty winter dishes. Food and drink stalls in the Christmas Chalet Village, alongside Christmas cafés at St Mary’s Church, the Methodist Hall, and Lunesdale Hall, offered plenty of warming refreshments.
Family Fun & Festive Traditions
There were Festive Guided Lantern Walks for those wishing to explore Kirkby Lonsdale and learn more about its fascinating stories, a Santa Parade on the Saturday, and family fun by way of puppet shows, a Christmas Story Trail, Santa’s Grotto and more.
