Lowther Castle - for over fifty years an abandoned ruin - is rapidly becoming one of the Lake District's most popular visitor attractions. Gardens, historical exhibition telling 'The Story of Lowther', café, shop and the castle itself, sited in a stunning landscape.
The gardens hark back to the 17th century and visitors can enjoy wandering through the remnants of an Edwardian pleasure park, meandering through stunning woodland, or stumbling across areas planted this century by the man-of-the-moment, landscape architect Dan Pearson. In the woods, one of the UK's largest adventure playgrounds 'the lost castle'. All in all, a treat for visitors of all ages.
