Thursday, 20 February 2025 @ 7:30pm
The Old Oak – 20 February at Lunesdale Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale

The latest film from Ken Loach and the third in his ‘austerity’ trilogy. The Old Oak is the last pub standing in a once-thriving mining community that has fallen on hard times after 30 years of decline. Pub landlord TJ Ballantyne hangs on by his fingertips, but his predicament is further imperilled when the pub becomes contested territory after the arrival of Syrian refugees who are relocated to the village. In an unlikely friendship TJ meets a curious young Syrian woman named Yara, who is always carrying a camera. Can they find a way for the two communities to understand each other?

Certificate 15. Running time 1hr 53mins.
