Each session focuses on key aspects of portrait creation\, starting with understanding facial proportions and the placement of features\, progressing to shading techniques and capturing expression and emotion. \nYou’ll explore facial anatomy\, learn how light and shadow add depth\, and experiment with colour mixing for realistic skin tones—all in a supportive\, step-by-step environment tailored for beginners. Perfect for those just starting their creative journey\, this course will guide you towards creating your very first portrait. \nThis is a six week course\, held every Wednesday in Kirkby Lonsdale Library\, between 10am and 12pm starting Wednesday 25 February. It’s led by Amy Jane Hardy\, our fully qualified Arts & Crafts tutor. \nHow will the course be delivered?\nThis course will be delivered face to face by our amazing Art tutor Amy. There will be a mixture of tutor demonstration\, discussion and hands-on creative activities to help you develop your skills and confidence. \nWhat do I need to bring?\nAll equipment will be provided\, but if you have good quality pencils\, pens\, or paints\, feel free to bring these with you. \nWhat are the entry requirements?\nThis class is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience; all you need is a passion for portraiture and a creative mindset. \nWhat can I do next?\nYou can continue your art journey with any of the other classes we have on offer.
