DESCRIPTION:The Annual Flower & Vegetable Show provides the Kirkby Lonsdale Gardening Association with an opportunity to invite its members and those from the local and wider community to celebrate and showcase their achievements and expertise in horticulture and home industries. This traditional family event\, which will be held on Saturday 16 August\, generates a great deal of interest and is a highlight in the KL Gardening Association calendar. \nShow schedules will be distributed to members in early July. If you are not a member a copy may be collected from Lunesdale Home & Garden\, The Tourist Information or The Library. \nEntries are 25p per entry (except for the children’s classes which are free) and all entry forms are to be handed in to Lunesdale Home & Garden by 5pm on Tuesday 12 August. SUMMARY:Casterton Open Gardens
DESCRIPTION:A range of gardens will be open\, from small cottage gardens to larger country houses. Some are quite formal and others in a more relaxed style. Some are well established and others quite newly planted. Several of the gardens have not been open to the public before. There will be vegetables and fruit growing as well as flowers. \nCost £5 (cash) per person. Visitors can collect a map / guide to the gardens from Casterton Village Hall from 10:30am. We ask you not to bring dogs. Entry includes tea or coffee and cake in Casterton Village Hall. \nThere will be plants for sale in aid of an animal charity. \nCasterton Sedbergh Prep School has kindly agreed that visitors can use their car parks\, at Holly Bush and opposite the school playing fields. As Casterton’s lanes are narrow and parking at individual gardens is limited\, we ask people who will be driving to park in one of these car parks and walk around the gardens. \nProceeds will go towards the upkeep of Casterton Village Hall. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact vhsecretary@castertonvillage.org

DESCRIPTION:An illustrated talk by Jack Gott\nKirkby Lonsdale Gardening Association are delighted to announce a talk by local dahlia breeder and grower\, Jack Gott. \nBased in Milnthorpe\, Jack is a former electrician who has been growing dahlias for over 50 years\, and has become one of the countries foremost experts on dahlias. His garden boasts of over 400 varieties and 6\,000 dahlias. He has appeared on BBC Gardeners’ World and as a National Dahlia Society judge\, he spends many weekends judging other growers’ blooms. \nHis talk promises to be a fascinating insight into one the countries most enduring garden flowers\, and you will also be able purchase dahlias on the night. \nPrices\nAdmission £2
