SUMMARY:Ruddigore
DESCRIPTION:by Gilbert & Sullivan\nPerformed by The Hornby Occasionals\nRuddigore\, or The Witches Curse\, is the tenth comic opera by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert and debuted in January 1887. \nSet in the Cornish fishing village of Rederrin\, where a witches curse has been placed on the Baronets of Ruddigore which forces them to commit a crime every day. Each previous Baronet has tired of the curse and died in agony. To escape his fate the genuine Baronet\, Ruthven Murgatroyd\, has absconded leaving his younger brother Despard to inherit the title and curse. \nMeanwhile Ruthven\, masquerading as Robin Oakapple\, has been courting Rose\, a young girl from the village. However\, Robin’s extreme shyness prevents him from asking her hand in marriage when his foster-brother\, Richard arrives and offers to help. Unfortunately he inadvertently asks for Roses hand in marriage and she accepts! The engagment is short-lived and Rose calls it off. Richard informs Sir Despard that his elder brother is still alive\, which comes as great relief to the Baronet. Sir Despard has been commiting his crimes early in the morning in order to do good works for the rest of the day in order to make up and the opportunity to be released from the curse is too strong. \nThe new baronet reluctantly takes up residence in the castle\, but will he be able to keep the ancestral ghosts happy who want him to commit ever worse deeds? Will he ever marry Rose? Will Despard be able to atone for his years of crime? Will the curse ever be lifted from the Murgatroyds? \nOnly Gilbert and Sullivan could conjure such a story and blend music\, humour and delight in this classic piece of topsy-turvy light opera! \nThe Hornby Occasionals are a NODA award-winning operatic society which has been performing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas since 1983. \nTickets \nAdult £14.00\nU18 £7.00 \nBooking \nBook online → \nPlease note there is a small booking fee for online bookings. SUMMARY:Diary of a Nobody
DESCRIPTION:Mr Pooter is a man of modest ambitions\, content with his ordinary life. Yet he always seems to be troubled by disagreeable tradesmen\, impertinent young office clerks and wayward friends\, not to mention his devil-may-care son Lupin with his unsuitable choice of bride. Try as he might\, he cannot avoid life’s embarrassing mishaps. \nBased on an 1892 novel by brothers George and Weedon Grossmith\, the bumbling Pooter has become an enduring comic character in a book that delivers a searing satire on the snobberies of middle-class suburbia – one which also sends up late Victorian crazes for spiritualism and bicycling\, as well as the fashion for publishing diaries by anybody and everybody. \nThis one-man show\, brought to you by theatre group ‘Don’t Go Into the Cellar’ and starring award-winning actor and writer Jonathan Goodwin promises to be a highlight of St Mary’s SS25 season. \n“Don’t go into the Cellar never disappoint. Over the last few years they have brought a range of productions to our theatre and all have been well received. Jonathan always throws his heart and soul in to the show. He is a wonderful actor and storyteller and is able to bring every character alive.” The Heron Theatre\, Milnthorpe. \n“It’s always a pleasure to work with Don’t Go into the Cellar. Their innovative\, compelling performances always sell out and delight our audiences.”\nLeeds Library Bar \nPrice\nAdults £12.00\nU18 £8.00 \nBooking\nBook online → \nDoors open at 6.45pm. Performance begins 7.30pm. All tickets carry a small booking fee shown at time of purchase.

SUMMARY:Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band Spring Concert
DESCRIPTION:Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band announce their annual Spring Concert to be held at St Mary’s Church. \nKirkby Lonsdale Brass Band is one of the oldest bands in the country. Here are some of the attractions your children will love\, all indoors so they can play whatever the weather. \nOur showstopping 5m slide\nWait until your kids see this! If your child claims they’re too old for inflatables\, this will have them eating their words. This amazing 17ft slide is one of our most popular items for older children. They love racing to the top and seeing who can get down first\, before dashing to do it again! \nTake on the 13m assault course\nThis challenge is the ultimate way to burn off energy while having a lot of fun. Kids clamber\, push and bounce their way through and then slide down to victory. It’s bounce-tastically brilliant! \nAll aboard the caterpillar train\nAn unforgettable experience! This bright and colourful caterpillar train has an assault course inside and is the only one of its kind in the area. There is plenty of space to explore. Our huge bouncy castle is popular with kids big and small. Its size means there’s room for lots of children to enjoy it at the same time. Bouncetastic! \nParty in the disco dome\nGet down and jump up as the music plays in the disco dome. The built-in stereo will keep your youngsters grooving as they dance under the flashing disco lights. \nGiant garden and inflatable games\nWhy should the kids have all the fun? Enjoy supersized classic games of Jenga\, Snakes and Ladders\, Connect 4 and Noughts and Crosses. Try your hand at Cactus Lasso to see who has the best throw as you compete to get the hoop over the cactus. And it’s beanbags at the ready as you take aim in the Zombie Shootout. Play against your friends\, partner\, or parents while your kids are busy bouncing. \nTake the plunge on our Base Jump\nJUMP! Will you take the plunge? There’s nothing like the adrenaline rush of our base jump. It’s one of a kind in the North West! Climb to the top and then decide how you will get down again. There’s a nice soft landing waiting for you on the inflatable pad below. And you can always take the chicken slide instead if you don’t fancy the drop. \nStretch\, grab\, and giggle in Hungry Hippos\nRemember playing Hungry Hippos when you were little? Now play our high energy version as you compete to grab as many balls as you can – while attached to a bungee cord around your waist. Will you win? Or will you ping back to where you started?
