Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club
The earliest report of 'football' in Kirkby Lonsdale was in 1734, when mention was made of damage to the Church windows in persons playing football. However, following the formation of our Club in 1877 no further damage to the Church windows has been blamed on football.
It appears the first match of the club was against a mixed team of masters and boys from Heversham Grammar School in the Autumn of '77, which was lost, at Underley Park, but Kirkby Lonsdale won the return match at Heversham in the following March.
Kirkby Lonsdale run 3 senior sides every Saturday so there is a place for all players whatever their ambitions might be.
The First XV play in North One West, the 2nd team in Raging Bull Division 2 North and the 3rd team in Raging Bull Division 5 North Leagues with the result that all have a regular, competitive fixture every Saturday.
The Club also has a thriving mini-junior section with nearly 400 boys and girls registered with sides at every age group from U.7s to U.16s. Training and matches take place on Sunday mornings starting at 10.30am.
As an important bridge between senior and junior club or school rugby, the club also runs one U18 Colts team. Recruits to the Colts age group are particularly welcome.
