The Milnthorpe Annual Art Exhibition is the largest open art exhibition in the North West, and timing is running our for applications. The closing date is Monday 16th July. Please apply through the website or contact Mike Coyle our Exhibition Secretary on 015395 63255 if you are having problems.
It is actually not as difficult or expensive to do as you may think. We have a number of long term clients who have bought original artworks from our exhibition and now have collections which provide a source of long lasting pleasure.
Now in it's 29th year the Exhibition could be described in modern terms as a "pop-up" event held over 4 days from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th August (10am to 6.30 pm, closes at 3pm on the Sunday.) Miss it and it's gone.
The whole of St Thomas' church in Milnthorpe is taken over and filled with over 600 exhibits by more than 200 artists. All the exhibits are well displayed and lit. We also serve light refreshments in the Church during the opening times. Admission is free.
Art can function on many levels. It can provide a primary focus to the room and can express a lot about the owner. Chosen wisely it can provide some investment potential. It can also provide a great source of personal pleasure because it has an emotional appeal or because it simply looks beautiful.
If you have some art in your home it is surprising how often your eyes are drawn to it repeatedly over the years. Not the sort of pleasure you get from other home purchases.
The Exhibition charities this year willl be St John's Hospice, Lancaster and Milnthorpe's St Thomas Church refurbishment.
