It's that time of year again for the annual Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band Competition. The streets and Market Square of Kirkby Lonsdale will once again be filled with joyous music from over 7 different brass bands as they vie for the title of Champions!
Last year's event had wall to wall blue sky and sunshine, so we hope for the same again. The competition comprises each band undertaking an 'unadjudicated' march along the high street before playing a short, adjudicated, entertaining programme in an open marquee in the market square.
7 entries plus 1 training band entry have been received so far for this year's contest. The bands entered are:
- Parr Band, St. Helens (4th Section)
- Pilling Jubilee Silver Band (3rd Section)
- Burneside Brass (4th Section)
- Greenalls Brass band (3rd Section)
- Brindle Brass Band (4th Section)
- Lancaster City Band
- Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band
In the Training Band Section:
- Burneside Training Band
We are pleased to announce that the Adjudicator for this year's contest is Derek Broadbent.
The 'Pre-Draw' will take place in the evening of Monday 21st May and the order of playing and start times will be placed on the Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band website and our Facebook page on Tuesday 22nd May.
The Hymns and Marches for the Massed Band at the end of the contest are as follows;
The hymns; St. Clements, Praise My Soul and Nottingham (all from the 'red' hymn book) and for the marches; RAF March, Great Little Army and '1914'
