Christmas Fair Weekend
4pm – 8pm Friday, 1 December 2017
10am – 6pm Saturday, 2 December 2017
10am – 4pm Sunday, 3 December 2017
Kirkby Lonsdale is a very popular destination at Christmas time. The town’s attractive setting, nestled above the River Lune, the array of interlocking streets and squares and a main shopping street boasting one of the best ranges of independent shops in the region gives it a very special appeal in the festive season.
This year will be creating a chalet village again in the heart of the town for the Christmas fair weekend - we have added more chalets taking the total to 22! In addition we'll have local food suppliers with an array of hot food and drinks to tempt you .The wooden chalets will be clustered around the market monument offering shoppers a wide range of gift items from near and far. We will also have an 18 stalls at our indoor market at Lunesdale Hall with more gift and craft stalls, including jewellery, Christmas decorations, art, soft furnishings, food and drink and much more.
In addition Christmas crafts for children, the Santa’s grotto and of course the largest tree in the town means the Market Square will have a unique appeal for this year’s event.
The weekend will also feature the traditional Festive Parade on Saturday at 2pm, the ‘switching on’ of the lights and a wide variety of street entertainment and music. There will be plenty of local foods to tempt and the hotels, cafes and pubs in the town will offer an especially warm welcome.
If the weather is chilly and bright visitors may be tempted to walk off their mince pies by taking a stroll down to Devils Bridge or to Ruskin’s view – one of the best places to admire the natural beauty of the Lune Valley.
As the Christmas lights twinkle on trees throughout the town we hope that visitors and locals will kick off the Festive season in style in picturesque Kirkby Lonsdale this year.
