Remembering Kirkby Lonsdale

7:30pm Friday, 21 September 2018

Casterton Village Hall, Casterton LA6 2RX

John Hamlett will be presenting his 70 minute film which tells the story of Kirkby Lonsdale around the 1930s. It brings together the memories of eight born and bred locals. It is about the era when the Underley estate owned or employed most of the town, Clark’s farm and the grand Lunefield House sat where housing estates stand today and there were cattle auctions and steam trains, bypass and bridge building, gasworks and a workhouse. This is all remembered alongside the characters that made Kirkby Lonsdale a vibrant community.

Filmmaker John Hamlett grew up around Kirkby Lonsdale and has been a freelancer for over 20 years. He has worked on many heritage projects and is fascinated by personal histories.

Entrance is by ticket only as it is expected to be a very popular event. Cost £2.

Tickets are available from Enid on 015242 71056, Jill 015242 71983 or from the Kirkby Lonsdale Visitor Information Centre.
