Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair is on its way!
This year the theme is ‘magical.’ There will be lights. There will be Santa. There will be food and drink and elves and a parade. There will be everything you expect from this annual event, and much, much more. The fun starts at 4pm on Friday 6th December and continues throughout Saturday and Sunday. Here’s some of what you can expect:
Chalet Village
Kirkby Lonsdale will be hosting its annual Christmas Market and you’ll find 26 chalets packed with food, gifts and delights in the Market Square. You’ll also find 16 stalls in Lunesdale Hall glittering with gold, feathers, leather goods and more.
Parade
The parade is always the centre of the action. Follow the floats, the elves and Santa on his sleigh as they make their way down the high street at 2pm Saturday and Sunday.
Light Switch On
Kirkby Lonsdale high street will be illuminated with magical lights, in addition to Christmas trees adorning the shops. You can watch the ‘switch on’ at 4pm on Friday.
Santa’s Grotto
Santa’s Grotto is moving to a new home in the ginnel next to The Book Lounge, which will transform into a Harry Potter tunnel. You can follow the footsteps on the pavement from the North Pole post box at The Little Owls’ Emporium.
Park and Ride
The Rugby Club is offering a free Park and Ride into town, 4.30pm-8pm on Fri and 10am -5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Entertainment
If Christmas topiary stops you for a chat it’s probably the guys from Bread and Butter Theatre Company who will also be making appearances as comedy elves. There will be wandering minstrels with ukuleles and banjos. Choirs and a theatre group will be pitching up to sing. You can catch buskers including saxophonists and an opera singer, and there will be ‘mulled wine blues’ wafting down the street. Hand bell ringers will be cutting through the air as will the Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band after the parade. And you won’t miss the sounds of Lancaster samba reggae band Batala.
Arts and Crafts
Dales National Park will be running arts and crafts for kids in the chalet village. The Little Owls Emporium is putting on wall to wall art activities including Christmas crown making, elf plates and angels on trees. Little Walkers will be offering face painting in their magical ginnel.
Lantern Walks
These popular walks will be running again at 4pm on Fri 6th, Sat 7th, Sun 8th and Sat 21st. Discover beautiful Kirkby Lonsdale by lamp light. Booking is essential and tickets include refreshments.
Church Events
St Mary’s will be hosting a three day drop in, complete with ‘unwrapping Advent’ refreshments and bric-a-brac stall. They will host the Kirkby Lonsdale choir on Sunday at 3.30pm. Meanwhile the Methodist Church will be offering refreshments from 10am.
And Much More…
This is just a taster of what’s happening. Keep an eye on the town Facebook Pages where we will be feeding news and pictures of the event as it unfolds and teasing with news of stalls and chalets in the run up to the Fair.
See you on the 6th, 7 th and 8 th for a magical Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas.
