A performance of Haydn’s Creation by Carnforth and District Choral Society, being conductor Martin Webster's final performance prior to retirement.
Conductor Martin Webster writes: ‘The Society is delighted that our request to sing in the superb acoustic of this church was so readily agreed to by Casterton District Church Council. We thank them very much for their welcome, and the hard work they are putting into making the evening a success. Our three talented soloists, Emily Robinson, Ederic Ibbotson and Brian Lancaster are all well known locally and further afield. They have sung with us regularly in recent years; we are pleased to have them with us again on this occasion’.
After eight successful years conducting the choir, Martin Webster is taking his retirement. This will therefore be his last major work in Holy Trinity Church. After the outstanding service that Martin has given to music in the Lune Valley and north Lancashire, it is appropriate that he be given an appreciative send-off. In future, piano accompanist Richard Bromley will be taking over as conductor of the choir, so we can continue to enjoy performances of the highest quality.
