The Arts Society Lunesdale

Lunesdale Decorative and Fine Arts Society

The Arts Society Lunesdale was formed in 2003 as the Lunesdale Decorative and Fine Arts Society (LDFAS), an affiliated society of  the then NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies), which has since become The Arts Society.

As our name implies, we draw our members from the North Lancashire area to the south of the Cumbria border which is traversed by the River Lune which flows through Kirkby Lonsdale and Lancaster before entering the sea just south of Morecambe.

As an affiliated society of The Arts Society we draw on their excellent pool of lecturers and we pride ourselves on choosing wisely from this pool but we also occasionally call upon distinguished local speakers.

We provide ten lectures each year on the third Tuesday of each month between September and June starting at 2.15pm which cover a variety of Arts subjects. We also run 'Special Interest Days' which allow us to explore particular topics in greater depth under the guidance of an expert.

There are day-trips to stately homes or galleries and longer (4-5 days) trips in the UK and abroad. Members also receive the Arts Society quarterly publication.
