The Ballad of Wallis Island
Cine North are delighted to present this month’s screening at Hornby Institute which is The Ballad of Wallis Island (2025) – a British comedy-drama that’s been winning audiences over since its release.
The film follows Charles, an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and dreams of reuniting his favourite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer, for a private show at his home. The folk duo is played by Tom Basden and Carey Mulligan, with Tim Key rounding out the central trio.
It holds a 96% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers calling it warm, funny, and quietly moving. A lovely choice for a Friday night out.
Rated 12A. Film runs 99 minutes.
